How do you manage your work energy to maximise productivity?

One of the sayings that have got a lot of mileage in our office recently was from Kate Morris, founder of Adore Beauty. In a recent article, Kate said…

“It’s not about managing time; it’s about managing energy.”

It’s something we try to live by. When we’re feeling a little sugared up and are bouncing off the walls, we’ll take our phone calls on a little walk. Sorry if you’ve got these calls. When we wake up and the prospect of a commute and small talk makes us pull the doona up, we stay home and immerse ourselves in more deep thinking activity. 

It doesn’t mean that we do less. It means we adjust our priorities and environment to the work we are in the mindset to do well. 

With flexible and remote working becoming more stringent post-Covid, this is worth thinking about. Even if you can’t get the flexibility you want, will you have options to manage your energy?
